Some basic security tips

“Security” and “simple” rarely go together, but these tips may help to keep you safe without requiring a lot of time and trouble.

• Install all computer application and operating system updates;
• Only use supported operating systems;
• Turn on your computer firewall and if available on your router;
• Install a decent anti-virus software and keep it up to date;
• Keep your computer up to date;
• Don’t visit dodgy sites;
• Keep your passwords safe and hard to guess and do not use the same one for mulitple sites;
• Use a decent browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox;
• Only open emails from people you know;
• Only use secure wi-fi connections and avoid public wi-fi.
